Nihal has always worked in the music industry initially as a performer in a band before becoming a highly respected and knowledgeable music plugger with his own business. He is now regularly sought after to make guest appearances on music based shows where he can share his expertise and communicate with the audience in a funny and informative way. Nihal has just started to host a brand new live Music Show for BBC3 and could recently be seen alongside the likes of John Humphries and Keith Allan on Art School for BBC2.
Nihal is one half of the very cool Radio 1 Show, Bobby and Nihal Presents…which can now be heard on Wednesday nights at 9pm. It was launched as a late night urban music show in October 2003 which won gold at the Sony Music Awards. He is currently hosting the all new arts and entertainment show Desi DNA on BBC2. He recently presented the Channel 4 documentary Whitey Blighty and could be seen hosting Mind Your F**ing Manners, a documentary for Channel 4 looking at etiquette across cultures. He and Bobby won the Music prize at this years GG2 Leadership and Diversity awards.
Nihal has fronted his own show, The Drop which was a funky hiphop show filmed for MTV Base. He co-presented The Saturday Show Extra for CBBC Digital which was shown every Saturday morning, a cooler behind the scenes version of The Saturday Show on BBC1 and was a regular host of Top of the Pops Prime.
Nihal has a very natural and relaxed on screen manner with ultimate credibility and respect. In addition he is ideal for this multicultural world.
In the past Nihal has co-presented Webwise with Emma B, a live youth and popular culture show for BBC2. In which he interviewed stars and presented from locations around London.
He also presented a youth magazine show entitled Hot Links for BBC Choice where he presented reports from The Meltdown Festival, stand up comedy to bar football.
Nihal was a regular music specialist contributor on The Phone Zone for UK Play. The Phonezone, which changed to a TOTP branded programme gave him a great profile and a good launch pad for his future career.
Nihal also has a wealth of radio experience. He appeared monthly as Phil Jupitus' sidekick on what was then GLR and as a guest music reviewer for Radio One. He covered for The Imrah Khan show on Radio London on four occasions. He was also a weekly contributor on BBC London Live advising on up and coming gigs and music releases.
In addition to these broadcasting skills he is also an excellent music journalist. He began writing for credible and established Hip Hop Connection, Mixmag and Vox and continued utilising his writing skills by developing the script for The Mix, a popular music show commissioned for ITV2.
With his funky image Nihal has modelled for the Boxfresh campaign and in the promotional video for 'Mathar' (Outcaste Records). He is a multi talented presenter with a particular passion for music – in his spare time he DJ's at clubs like Momo’s, Attica and The Met Bar. He has also promoted acts such as Judge Jules, Mos Def, Lionel Richie, and Elton John.
