Laura Marks is an exciting new Scottish presenter who is destined for great things within the entertainment industry!! Although she is as yet unknown as a presenter on national television she has vast experience in front of the camera having performed with a successful band and hosted shows in Scotland.
With her unique modern style and fun but chilled personality - coupled with her charming Scottish accent and relaxed manner on camera she offers the complete package on screen. At only 21 years old, she has gained an enormous range of experience within the media having had international success with her band, El Presidente, gaining a Number 1 hit in Japan with ‘Turn this thing around’.
Laura can currently be seen presenting the Ford sponsored programme ‘Bite’ for Channel4.com. The channel’s new online website. The show is also simultaneously promoted in a column in the hugely popular entertainment magazine ‘Heat’ entitled 'What’s Happening on BITE this week’. Laura reports on new trends and what’s hot in the north of Great Britain. The show launched mid October.
Laura started singing professionally at the age of 9 and over the years has grown up within the media spotlight. She has made numerous television appearances including MTV’s TRL, GMTV, TOTP, BBC’s Glastonbury, and E4’s ’T in the Park’ etc and found her love of presenting whilst touring and promoting her music career. She always felt that she would prefer to be the interviewer rather than the interviewee!
Laura has a keen interest and excellent knowledge of all genres of music and with such a great insight from her performing background she would feel very comfortable
hosting a music entertainment show. She was awarded the Great Scot Award for Music/Entertainment in 2006. She has in the past hosted ‘Studio A’ for BBC Scotland which introduces new upcoming Scottish bands.
Laura is passionate about clothes, trends and fashion and in 2005 was awarded 'Scotland’s Most Stylish’ Award - she would love to use her knowledge and passion combined with her presenting skills to host fashion events and programmes.
Laura is not afraid to get stuck in behind the scenes too having worked as a 2nd Assistant Director, script writer and researcher as well as an Assistant Floor Manager.
