Emily is 19 years old and currently in her first year reading English at Wadham college, Oxford. She was recently a finalist of the 2008 BBC Masterchef competition.
During the show she developed her own unique style and approach. She is keen to explore the experimental side of cooking, both in terms of flavour combinations and the processes involved. She is also interested in the physiological effects of food, for example, how food can evoke emotion and memories. She considers her food as a reflection of her personality; quirky and witty.
She is also very passionate about art and sees cooking to be an unrealized artform which, unlike other forms of art, has the potential to affect all the senses. She has illustrated for the student magazine ‘Etcetera’ and was short-listed for
the Summer Exhibition last year. She is also featured on the Saatchi website.
Her other great love is writing. She has written articles for Delicious Magazine and the Sunday Telegraph.
Other interests of Emily’s are travelling and experiencing different cultures, philosophy and critical theory, fashion, modern culture, music, watersports, hiking, voluntary teaching (TEFL training,) and general charity work. She is
passionate, literate and innovative. She relishes new experiences is up for just about anything. |
