SOMETHING FOR THE WEEKEND TELEPHONE COMPETITION
RULES
- The promoters of the competitions are the BBC (the “Broadcaster”)
and Princess Productions Ltd. (the “Company”) who
shall together be known as the “Promoters”. Any
correspondence relating to the competition should be directed
to Something for the Weekend viewer competition, c/o Princess
Productions Ltd., Whiteley's Centre, 151 Queensway, London
W2 45B
- The competition is open to all residents of the UK aged 16
years or over except employees of the Broadcaster, the Company
and anyone connected with the competition.
- The telephone and text entry procedures are operated by Intext
Media (UK) Limited on behalf of the Promoters. Neither the
Promoters nor Intext Media (UK) Limited shall be liable to
reimburse any expenses incurred by a viewer making an entry
whether by phone or text.
- Entry to the competition is by calling the telephone number
announced in the show or by sending in a text to the number
announced in the show. Phone calls will be charged at
25 pence per call provided you dial from a standard BT land
line. Other networks may charge a different amount. If an entrant
is not the person who pays the phone bill, they must ask the
permission of the person who does pay the phone bill before
calling.
Text entry will be charged at 25 pence in addition to your
normal text charge.
- Entrants entering by phone have to leave their name, answer,
town and contact phone number. Entrants entering by text message
must provide their answer, name and town.
- Viewers will be told when the lines close by an announcement
on air which will normally be in the form of an on air graphic.
- Immediately after the competition closes a winner is selected
at random from all those entrants with the right answer.
- The prizes will change each week and the prize will be specified
in each show when the competition is announced. The prize is
as stated and there is no cash alternative.
- All entry instructions given on air will be deemed to form
part of the rules of the competition.
- The Company’s decision as to the winner of the competition
is final. No correspondence relating to the competition will
be entered into.
- The winner will normally be notified on air at the end of
the show. On occasions the winner may be notified after the
show has come off air.
- There is no limit on the number of entries per entrant
- The Broadcaster, the Company, Intext Media (UK) Limited,
their suppliers, their group companies and sub-contractors
do not accept any responsibility whatsoever for (i) any technical
failure or malfunction or any other problem in any telephone
network or line, system, server, provider or otherwise which
may result in any call or text message or details left by entrants
being lost or not properly recorded, or (ii) traffic congestion
or other capacity issues which may result in a message not
being able to get through or a message not being recorded.
The competition is provided “as is” and, to the
fullest extent permitted by law, the Promoters exclude all
warranties and liability (whether express or implied) regarding
the competition or the prize. In no event will Promoter’s
liability to an entrant exceed the cost of an entry, save that
nothing limits the Promoter’s liability for death or
personal injury as a result of its negligence.
- The Company may disqualify an entrant from winning the prize
if it has reasonable grounds to suspect that an entrant may be
in breach of these Rules and/or the participation in the competition
may be fraudulent or otherwise unlawful (including but not limited
to the use of technology which enables a contestant to evade
charges when entering the competition). The Company may request
that an entrant provides proof of his or her eligibility to enter
the competition or proof of his or her compliance with these
Rules before being entitled to a prize.
